The Certified HITRUST Quality Professional (CHQP) course is now open for registration. The course is designed to enhance the quality of HITRUST Validated Assessments. This course will outlines the latest processes and procedures of the HITRUST Assurance Program, including the roles and responsibilities of the Engagement Executive, Engagement Lead, and Quality Assurance Reviewers.
The CHQP course provides clarity on the requirements for assessors to perform independent quality assurance (QA) reviews of the assessment results, in addition to providing additional required training to those performing the QA review, and the completion of a checklist by the engagement executive and QA reviewer.
1. Why are we adding a new course?
This change is to ensure that Engagement Executives understand the HITRUST CSF Assurance Program and are able to perform an effective executive-level review. The requirement for Assessor QA reviewers to complete an online course is to ensure that reviewers understand the expectations of their role and can demonstrate their understanding by passing the exam.
2. Who should attend?
The course is designed for any assessor personnel who lead or review HITRUST assessments. To attend the CHQP course, individuals must have previously completed the Certified CSF Practitioner (CCSFP) course and have an active CCSFP certification.
HITRUST Authorized External Assessor firms have until July 31, 2019 to have a minimum of two (2) resources certified as CHQP’s. All validated assessment submissions on or after August 1, 2019 will be required to have a QA review performed by a CHQP, as evidenced by sign-offs on the assessor quality checklist described in HITRUST Assurance Advisory HAA 2019-001. HITRUST will reject submissions on or after August 1, 2019 without proper CHQP involvement.
4. Is the CHQP a separate certification or an add-on to the CCSFP?
The CHQP will be an additional certification available to those that have already achieved the CCSFP designation. Since it is linked to the CCSFP, there are no additional education requirements beyond those needed for someone to maintain his/her CCSFP.
5. How long does the status of a CHQP last? Is there an annual refresher course?
The CHQP designation is good for up to two (2) years. At that point, you must retake the course to maintain your status as a CHQP. The course itself will be updated as changes are made to the HITRUST QA requirements. There is no annual refresher course. If an individual’s status as a CCSFP expires, they must retake the CCSFP course and then the CHQP course again to become re-certified.
6. How do I register for the course?
The course is offered online via the HITRUST Academy. You can register using the following link – https://hitrustalliance.org/hitrust-academy/schedule/. The cost to register is $2,000.
7. How long does the course take to complete?
The course is estimated to take about three (3) hours to complete. Three (3) CPE credits will be offered to all that complete the course.
